Write the vision…

Then the Lord answered me and said:

“Write the vision

And make it plain on tablets,

That he may run who reads it.

For the vision is yet for an appointed time;

But at the end it will speak, and it will not lie.

Though it tarries, wait for it;

Because it will surely come,

It will not tarry.

Habakkuk 2:2-3, NKJV

Throughout most of my adult life, God has spoken to me in my dreams. Very rarely did God speak to me during waking hours, choosing instead to penetrate my dreams with His words and His plans. Now that I am older and wiser, I see why He had to come through my dreams…because it is the only time that I am still and quiet enough to listen to Him. I have also realized that His words only came to me when my life was focused on Him. For the two years that I was in a relationship with my ex, I never saw a vision from the Lord. Then as soon as the relationship was over, and I had recommitted my life to God, I began to hear from the Lord again in my sleep.

The dreams that the Lord sends are either completely confusing or straight to the point- there is no middle ground with these dreams- but both types send me straight to my knees in prayer each morning when I wake up. When I pray in the morning, I ask God to help me remember my entire dream, explain what the dream meant, and then give me the words to say to the person who was in the dream. As the frequency of the dreams began to increase this year, I have been sending more and more “random” messages to people because God has placed them on my heart and literally on my mind. And after contacting each person, God would reveal why He placed them in my thoughts. The specific reason may vary but the idea is the same, He needed me to pray for them because they were going through a troubling time… or about to go through a troubling time. But then there are also the dreams that He sends pertaining to my future.

One night in November as I was praying and doing my devotional studying, He placed E.V.E. (Embracing Visions of Excellency) on my heart. He sent the entire idea, name, and person to share it with on my heart while I was awake. However, when I went to sleep, He gave me the scripture from above. God was telling me to intentionally meet with Him and then BOLDLY claim and accept His promises.

In the text, Habakkuk (a prophet of God) prayed to God repeatedly on behalf of the wayward children of Israel. When chapter 2 begins, Habakkuk is saying that he will prepare and wait to hear what the Lord had to say in response to his many prayers. When we pick up at verse 2, God is answering Habakkuk by telling him to write the vision (God’s response) on large tablets so that the people can see and read what He is saying to them. God did not want there to be any confusion or questions as to what His instructions were for His children. God also said that “it will speak and not lie.” God was saying that like Him, His words and promises would be for His children and that it would be resounding truth. Lastly, He says that while it may “[tarry], wait for it; because it will surely come…” God was again promising His children that the promises and the words He had spoken in the past would surely come to pass in their lives. He was further saying that while it may take some time, wait for it because it was guaranteed to happen.

Isn’t that good news? Knowing that God promises to move in our lives and all we must do is wait in faith for Him to move…that is GREAT news! Regardless of how or when God speaks to you, He does speak. Your job is to take what He says to heart and move by faith in His promises.

Beloved, what is God saying to you; what is He telling you to boldly write on a tablet so that you can see and never forget? When God gave me this scripture, He was telling me to map out my year and future with Him. I meditated over this scripture before I created my vision board for 2018 and, on this 50th day of the new year, I can honestly say that He has fulfilled at least 95% of what I wrote on the board. The vision board was not for Him to see and then move; it was for me to see, pray over, and then move with God in this year of my life.

On this day where we honor the leaders of this country (Presidents’ Day), I challenge you to meet with the true Leader of your life (God) and ask Him what He has planned for your life. Let Him move you and guide you as only He can. Then when He speaks, WRITE THE VISION. Put His words down on paper and allow yourself to see that which He says. Hear His vision. See His vision. Touch His vision. And then live His vision.

Be blessed.
