Promises made… and kept.

What’s the oldest things you’re wearing today?

Lately, my memory has been betraying me. Dates aren’t are prevalent as they once were, and details are blurrier than a far-away sign when I’m not wearing my glasses.

While I can’t remember the year, I remember the significance behind buying this ring. I felt led to symbolically demonstrate my commitment to God and the ministry that He had placed within me. After attending the dedication service for a friend’s daughters, I traveled to Potomac Outlet Mall and went into the first jewelry store that I saw. I knew that I wanted something very simple in design because I didn’t (and still don’t) like jewelry. I asked the salesperson to show me the simple band that sat in the case with other wedding bands. It was a plain-Jane gold band but it meant the world to me.

To this day, I proudly wear this band on my right ring finger. Other than my earrings and nose ring, it is the only piece of jewelry that I ever bought myself and the only thing that I wear. Yes, it was purchased at the store in 2022 or something like that, but its beauty and symbolism were promised long before then. I love this ring and I love my God, Whose promises I’m reminded of whenever I look at this ring.
