What is your career plan?
Brace yourself- my career plan is not to be a classroom teacher forever. 😱 Truth is, I LOVE teaching… but more than that, I love helping people reach their fullest selves.
Education was not my first career, but it is definitely my calling. It is in my role as an educator that I feel the most fulfillment and can see flowers begin to bloom from seeds that I’ve planted. And despite how much I love this job, I recognize that I can do more. As such, for the last two years, I have been considering the following paths, as I believe that they afford me the opportunity to positively impact thousands, who will then impact thousands:
- A college professor. Yes, this is still a classroom educator, but with this, I would be able to possibly work with student teachers who would then go on to impact more future leaders.
- A digital nomad. Over the last eight years, I have truly experienced the healing and release that comes from writing and creating heartfelt content. As such, I would love to travel the world, continuing to write and speak, helping to cultivate the same spaces that helped set me free.
- A politician. While I hate lying, breaking promises, and disappointing people, I also recognize that there is brokenness in our current society, and I want to work to change that. At one point in my life, I wanted to be a congresswoman, and that dream hasn’t completely left my heart.
All three of those paths are as different as the days of the week, but they each represent a side of me that I would love to nourish and further develop. As a current (and forever) career changer, I know that my possibilities are only as limited as my mind and that fulfilling adventure awaits me when I grow up.
