Words to honor

Do you have a quote you live your life by or think of often?

Funny thing is, I actually just blogged about this not too long ago…

Back in 2019 God placed a quote on my heart that I have tried to live by and honor since then. The reality is, like most areas in my life, I fell a bit short but with this being the second time it was brought to my attention in recent weeks, this must be God’s way of stressing its power and importance.

I desire more than my fears will allow. I must lose my limitations in order to reach my dreams.

My words from 2019 still resonate today, reminding me that the only thing stopping me from achieving God’s greatness is my fears. Which is quite funny actually, because God “has not given [me] the spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7).”

So as I stare at the words that I wrote and the picture that I created 6 years ago, I must ask myself this question: why am I afraid? If God has already permitted me and paved my way, if He told me multiple times in His Word to not be afraid, and if everything that I bring to Him He blesses, then why am I afraid?

The truth is, my fear stems from what my eyes can see, instead of what my heart believes. My eyes can see that no one has ever done what God has called me to do so there is no barometer for success. My eyes can see that when others tried similar things, they encountered pain and difficulty. My eyes can see the naysayers and opposition gathering their doubts to cast my way. Yet even with what my eyes see, my heart knows this to be true: God’s promises never fail.

Sweet Friend, while this is my favorite quote to live by, I pray that it quickly becomes one that we can all honor. 💜
