Acknowledge & Worship

Even though I am vocally challenged (meaning, when God gave out the gift of angelic singing, I was staring at a squirrel in some corner somewhere), there is one song that I love to sing more than anything:

“I love You, Lord, and I lift my voice
To worship You,
Oh, my soul rejoice.
Take joy, my King,
In what You hear.
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound
In Your ear.”

As I stood in the shower last night, mentally preparing for the week ahead while acknowledging the struggle that had occurred in the days that had just passed, my overwhelmed heart just wanted to sing to my God.

Beloved, how do you handle stress? I recognize that none of my methods are healthy or sustainable however, I am truly working on this for the future. Yet as I try to understand all that’s happening in my life in the moment, my heart just wants to sing…

“I love You, Lord, and I lift my voice
To worship You,
Oh, my soul rejoices.
Take joy, my King,
In what You hear.
Let it be a sweet, sweet sound
In Your ear.”

Scripture says that there is power in the name of Jesus. Power to save and heal, power above all else, and power by which every knee shall bow. In my mind, I know this beyond the shadow of a doubt but my heart has some catching up to do. Sometimes the hustle and bustle of this season often causes me to become far too engrossed in daily living and lose focus on what really matters- resting in the beauty of our Lord- and I simply forget how powerful Jesus truly is!

Sweet friend, I had something different in mind planned for today but that shower song changed everything. I wanted to take a moment to reflect on that song and, naturally, I wanted all of you to come along for the ride. As you go about your Monday, take a moment to reflect on the goodness of our God and your love for Him.

I will end today’s post with the second part of that song that I grew up loving and singing as much as possible:

“We exalt Thee,
We exalt Thee,
We exalt Thee,
Oh, Lord!”

Beloved, take time to acknowledge and worship God today.

Be blessed.
