Gracing the Inevitable

The time has come for me to face the fears that have held me bound for far too long.

I remember when November was coming to an end I sat with my journal and my God, writing as words as He spoke, and finally realizing that He was about to make some changes in my life. God was clearly saying that it was time for me to stop being lukewarm about my relationship with Him and truly accept all the benefits of being His child.

Benefit #1: Don’t you worry ‘bout a thing!

I can vividly hear that Bob Marley song playing in my head right now and in my mind’s eye, I can see the three little birds outside singing in the cool of the day. As the daughter of a Jamaican, I have listened to that song more times than I can count but today its words are truly hitting home to me because they are the same words that Jesus mentions in Matthew chapter 6. Gracing the Inevitable means that I am finally ready to accept the truths that God has been telling me for our entire relationship and it starts with me accepting that He is in control of everything. The beautiful thing about our God is that He is God and God alone- He does not need or want our help. When God continually tells us to lean on Him and our own understanding, He is telling us not to worry about a single thing.

Grace the Inevitable and let God handle it all!

Benefit #2: The game is rigged!

There’s an urban legend that says that the NFL predicts who will play in the Superbowl early in the year with its display of colors. Because of this, some say the games are rigged as the ending was already determined before the game even begins. Whether that is true or not is not my business (especially because this year my team is one of those predicted teams, LOL!) but what I do know is that when it comes to God and His plans for our lives, the end has already been determined and written before our lives even began. Even before God knit us together and put us in our mother’s womb, He knew who we were and who we would become. Because He is at the ending (He is omnipresent), at the beginning, and with us right now, He has an advantage over it all. This is the time for us to fall back and let God be God because He has already won the victory over every situation before us.

Grace the Inevitable, Beloved, because the game is rigged; in Christ, we have the victory!

Benefit #3: You are not alone!

Yes, now I am thinking about the Michael Jackson song from forever ago. I loved that soft ballad where Michael declared that his lady was not alone because he was there with her. I love it because it makes me think of our God and how He states in His Word that we never have to go through life alone… He is with us. Especially during this time of year, many people may feel the sting of depression for one reason or another. Whether it is the loss of a loved one, financial despair in the midst of holiday commercialization, or a struggle to adjust to the season’s change- some people are feeling the weight of the world and loneliness has been their companion. It breaks my heart to know that so many people that I love are struggling right now; it breaks my heart to know that some people truly think that they are alone in this world. The truth is that our Abba walks beside us in every storm and is readily there, desiring to bear the weight of whatever we may be going through… if we would just surrender it all to Him. He is our El Roi, our God who sees, and He is omnipotent, capable of handling it all.

Grace the inevitable and know that God is with you.

Beloved, I am sitting in my feelings today… but in a good way. Today I am excited about how God will continue to set us both free in this season, this season where we are both gracing the inevitable. Sweet friend, healing looks GOOD on you and I just love to see it.

Shout it from the highest mountain top that you are gracing the inevitable!!!!!!

Be blessed!
